Keeping the Mind Sharp

The short days, the cold temperatures, the short days, the cold temperatures, the short days, the cold temperatures…they can quickly lead to some serious cabin fever. Sure we are very fortunate that the lowcountry offers excellent fishing year round; but, sometimes finding a break in the weather that happens to fall on the weekend can be tough and since it is dark by 6 pm it is impossible to get on the water after work further limiting possibilities. I find that at least doing boating related activities such as restocking the first aid kit, knocking out preventative maintenance, organizing tackle etc. at least helps me stay somewhat sane. Boat US offers and excellent way to keep the mind working during the “off season” with their complete array of online boating classes. From VHF use, to reading weather patterns, to state specific online boating safety classes these classes offer a great brush up for the experienced and a plethora of info for those new owners. Take some time to hope online at http://www.boatus.org/courses/ to test your knowledge!
