Keys advice

Headed to the keys in April. Any advice on nice places to rent. Would like a a dock and close access to any beaches, which I know there are not a lot of.

thanks

Are you looking for a house or hotel? Either way I’d recommed Islamorada over any of the other areas. One of the last times I went back down we stayed at Breezy Palms on the ocean side in Islamorada. They have a nice man-made beach (all the beaches for the most part are man-made down there)and they have a good dockage with easy acces to pretty much anywhere you want to fish.

It’s not fancy but it’s clean and the rates are reasonable. It’s pretty much your typical keys style hotel. There’s also a nice Hampton Inn next door with a beach and dockage but it’s a bit more expensive.

If you are looking for a house there are plenty located on canals with docks right out your back door. Most are on the bayside so it could be a pretty good run to get to open ocean depending on where its located. Check VRBO.com for house and condo rentals.

thanks, definitely looking for a house.

We go every year and rent a house in the Venture Out community on Cudjoe. Waterfront stilt house, 2 bedroom,2 bath, dock and all the comforts of home, for about $1200 a week. The place has a nice man made beach, great boat ramp and marina, non-ethanol fuel, pressure washer for cleaning trailers and boats, pools, tennis and about everything you need. 5 minutes to Hawks Channel and 15 minutes to Looe Key.

And this is who we book through. Been using this company for 5 years, no problems, no complaints.

I 2nd VRBO. We have rented through them for houses in Key Largo, Tampa, Weeki Wachee and this past Spring in Islamorada. We have stayed all over Fl and have never been disappointed. You should easily be able to find something on the water with dockage. We stayed just off Tavernier Creek and could be in the Atlantic in about 10 minutes. The hardest thing seemed to be finding a suitable ramp, not too far from the house. They have a fairly loose definition of what a ramp actually is.
