Kiawah 5/21

Went out with the family to Kiawah and fished for a couple of hours around high tide. Found a beautiful trough but not a single bite in it. Ended up catching 2 bathtub sized stingrays and one medium sized one on chunked bluefish and spot. As the tide went out we caught lots of shark pups and one shark about 2.5ft on shrimp. All in all it was a good trip for someone that doesn’t make it out as much as I’d like. The best part of the trip for me was I got my 20 month old daughter on the reel for one of the stingrays for just a little bit before she got bored and went stomping off in the waves.

Anyone ever get nervous walking back out to cast after releasing monsters in the surf? I manned up but couldn’t help but think about those big stingrays in the trough that I had to walk through to throw past the breakers.

Great picture of the two of you! My son is about the same age and I absolutely love taking him along with me. When I wade out I don’t really get too nervous because I’ve been doing it since I was a little kid without any issues. I suppose the potential is there for something to happen but I don’t really think about it. My biggest fear walking bait out is actually stepping on a ray. I always kinda drag my feet so hopefully I won’t put my foot right on top of one.
