Just wanted to put this out there… I am putting together a Surf Fishing tourney here on Kiawah Seabrook Island tentatyively scheduled for Sat, Sept 19. I have Beachwalker Park opening up for the shop, free parking, and am not planning to charge for this event. I am giving away cash first place, prizes 2nd and third. My question is if there is any interest?

All of this is tentative so far…
All of Kiawah and Seabrook Island are fair game, public access at Beachwalker County Park for those that cant get in either gate. There will be a secret item that will be announced the day before that all fish will need to be measured and taken a picture with. Picture must have ruler and item in it. We are doing cash first place, and my sponsors (Apparel and tackle companies to be announced later) Largest Fish: 1st, 2nd, 3rd. I am thinking of largest redfish prize/cash as well. The reason for doing this: I am a new owner who bought the oldest tackle shop in Charleston (est. 1981) here at Bohicket Marina Kiawah/Seabrook. I am a local who has something to prove and spread the word…

Has anyone heard from Bohicket tackle posting was in april,is he moving forward my guess is not if we havent heard from him yet. So many questions, why not open up the field and have a level playing field home field advantage would play a major advantage to those who dont work that area. Whats to stop a team or couple of guys from putting together pics on one phone or camera, is kayaking aloud, wouldnt be fair for those with no kayak , I vote for casted from shore to water that way everyone has equal opportunity, hell maybe we could get Stan and team REQUIEM to lend their expertise with tournements, they are trustworthy, have a 25 entry fee that we could donate to their tagging program or do something good, bragging rights should be good enough, we could even pair up a buddy soldier who needs to have some fun, but having to divulge ones favorite fishing spot to everyone is a deal breaker for me. Pick a day in oct on the weekend, put fair rules in place for everyone, biggest shark most inches, biggest red most inches, whatever, hell maybe Stan would be willing to donate a surf fishing trip to the winner, whos it gonna be Imnotfishy, Iggy, Folly fisher, Is Mr Parker going to slay another giant or is someone flying under the radar going to pull an upset, lets roll, sounds like fun. Is bohicket tackle moving forward with this or not certainly dont want to step on there toes but, havent heard from you guys since april?
I hope it happens. Those of us with a preference to surf fishing kinda get left out of the “tournament” circles. To me if you call it “Surf FISHING” it should be fish, not “Weigh and measure what ever in the Atlantic Ocean you catch”.
I hope no Sharks or Rays, if they’re in, that would mean my 50 Whiting would all have to be 2 pounders instead of 1.5

I’m not to concerned about “new” areas, it’s still just the Atlantic.
And if some “fishin’ bros” get together and cheat…well that would be jeuvinille.

I would love to do at least one scouting trip, but the 1 hour drive from North Chucky kinda sucks. Defenitely with ya though Pete, bring it!
At this point it looks like nothing is going to happen, its not like we have given a whole lotta notice for someone to pull something off. I just thought it would be fun, I certainly wouldnt expect to place except in the most handsome category, theirs allot of better fisherman out there than I , including yourself. I did also see an opportunity to support requiem shark boys or some other worthy cause such as soldiers, or both, its not enough to just talk about supporting local-but people need to do so. Im guessing I wouldnt make the cut anyway, to many rules, I enjoy my freedom to much, I enjoy my spot, I drink, I smoke, I am who I am and dont want to change. With that being said Im also very competitive and truly love to fish. I would think sharks would be in their own category, as we would get crushed if they werent. Mr Parker I have spies everywhere dont be alarmed if Peteclat and Lucid start doing cannonballs in the middle of your set up during the competition (paid them 100$) or if you pick a partner be careful you wouldnt want your shrimp smelling like zesty Italian dressing.
Mr Parker whats your thoughts about full moons Im hitting it with a buddy saturday, not expecting the best showing.
