Christmas is coming quickly and while many of you have already finished up your shopping, some of us are just getting started. One of the best presents I can remember getting as a kid was my first fishing rod. My two best friends also received fishing rods and we spent hours in the yard with practice plugs, making cast after cast.
Getting a fishing rod for a young child is a great way to introduce them to the sport and begin to build a lifetime of memories. There is something special about having a rod and reel that they can call their own and many times this will take their interest to a whole new level. While you are purchasing a rod and reel, some great complimentary times are pliers, a tackle box and lures make great stocking stuffers.
