Kingfisher on Topwater lure

Was fishing off the dock on Broad Creek at dusk with a top water lure . A kingfisher comes flying In and flys off with the lure in his beek. Thankfully was able to “land” him safely and remove the hook from his beak. He flew away safely:sunglasses:

Good job getting the hook out without either of you getting injured. Obviously fooled him/her. Thanks for sharing that.

That’s pretty wild. Nice job saving bird! I’ve caught sea gulls, pelicans and terns, but never a king fisher :sunglasses:

The meanest i’ve caught was an Osprey, had to wrap him in a towel to remove the hook! Never seen or heard of a king fisher caught. And come to think of it, I don’t see as many kingfishers around any more!

great job… like others said never seen or heard of a kingfisher getting hooked…

Birds got luck too. Shearwater sliced my belly up good wrapped up in a leader…bounced him of the gunwale and he flew off. Darwin graduate.
