L.E.D. Flounder Gigging Lights...

Heres some underwater lights I made. ECU1984 found the Cree LED chips and I machined out the heads. All said and done they produce 3600lumens and are completely submersible. Last for ever on a single deep cycle batter

Kewl!

trooper-

I am looking for some clamps like you have there attaching the pole to the boat. They appear to be a snap-lock/compression type clamp, is that so? Could you help me out on what those are and where to get them?

They look like the clamps to hold a mag light or a bow light in the boat. The ones I have are for 1" pipe and 2" pipe. If those would work for ya ill send ya some.

thank you very much for the offer. I’m hoping to find something like those for 1/2 to 3/4" pvc. right now I am just using the “c” shaped wall straps, but I would like to be able to more easily adjust my lamp height.

How much did this cost to set up? Looks like a great project. I need to put a light system on the nose of my McKee this month. let me know thanks.

Get with ECU1984 on the parts side of these. The LED chips are Cree LED’s and cost around 10.00 a piece if you can find them. With that, you have to have a current driver to regulate the volts or they will get fried in a matter of seconds. The current drivers are around 20.00. The Led’s heat up so you have to keep them on a heat sink and underwater to keep them cool. When done properly, they put off 3600 lumens. I had these lights cut from a CNC machine and welded them to the pole. I’ve used these all summer and yet to charge the battery. So, I have 50.00 in the lights without the cost of the aluminum.

Tried my new light setup a little over a week ago. They are similar to Wildlifes but are submersed. Trial run the water was a little dirty but not bad. I will try again with cleaner water but would put them as, brighter than the old DC bulbs I used to use but not as bright as the 500 watt floods and genny I have been running for the past few years. I was nice and quite though!

Just a thought. Wonder if you could put some type of reflector on top of those tubes to redirect/focus the light where you need it most.

Good luck stickin!

Even some duct tape would at least cut out the glare from the top side. Nice setup!

We rigged these on the bay boat with out drilling into the boat. Definitely not the best looking rig but it served the purpose. I just found LED penetrated murky water very little. In the clear water at Murray we could plainly 15-20 ft though.
