L.E.D. Flounder Gigging Lights...

Here’s my variation on flounder gigging lights. I do the web site for Hydro Glow Fish Lights http://www.hydroglow.com/. These lights are super bright, can be rotated in an adjustable mount and are flexible enough to curve a bit (see how mine bends on my Carolina Skiff on the side) and are waterproof. They are 12vdc and like all L.E.D. lighting…pull very low amperage.

Mounting under the Carolina Skiff rolled lip keeps the light out of my eyes. I shot these photos in daylight and at night…

Now that’s a sweet set up right there! Very neat thanks for sharing.

Really nice lights…What size are the ones shown on your boat?

These lights are 40 inches long.

That’s really awesome, wildlife. I’m guessing you power this with a generator? Or do you run them off batteries?

Very Interesting, I seen the lights at the South Carolina sportmans classic. The good thing with LED is that they can run for ever with hardly any power. Thanks for posting your set up.

No need for a generator, funnybanana. You can power these for several trips on one battery charge…they pull very little amperage. I carry one Group 24 dual-purpose or deep cycle for these and for a handheld spot if needed.

Very cool. Hopefully by the time my friend is ready to rig up his boat for gigging we can make something similar.

Sweet! I checked out the site, however, all I see are green and blue lights. The ones you have appear to be white? Have you tried them on the water yet? Curious how well they work. Will you please give an update after you gig with them? This looks to be exactly what I am looking for as I miss the days of quiet conversation with your buddies instead of the sound of a genny, however, for those prices I want to be sure thy will provide adequate lighting. Thanks Wildlife!

Those are nice. What does a set go for?

Great looking lights. Glad I browsed this forum. Gonna try gigging this year, and I’m starting to get ideas. LOVE that grill, Trooper…Ken

I have NOT tried them on the water…but will soon and hopefully shoot pics and video. They are pricey…but the original Hydro Glow 4 foot fluorescent green light that so many use for bait and swordfish are $200 also. These lights are super-bright…and no need for a generator with 110 vac safety issues is a BIG plus. I’m an old E.E. and I know water, especially saltwater, and 110 ac does not mix well!

The lights are available in white. The model I have is not yet for sale on the web site. I’ll post an update on availability as soon as I talk with Darrell Keith, owner of Hydro Glow.

those are sweet…so $600 for all the lights in your setup if i heard right(assuming the white lights cost the same as the green ones)

No…these lights will sell for around $225 or $240, plus shipping, so they would be around $450-$480 for the setup.

okay thanks, I thought you had one on each side very cool setup

This may be a stupid question, but how long of a lifetime would you expect to get out of these lights?

Take care of them and you won’t need another set. 10,000 hours for L.E.D.s typical rating…in practice…who knows? You would need to protect them from impact breakage, etc., but they’re waterproof.

Interested to know if you have used the lights yet and how well they worked. I have an orignal hydorglow I used to use years back night fishing on Lk Murray fishing for stripers, quality product. I really like how compact they are and fit nicely under the bow lip. Do you keep them attached while you are running if so they stay on running in a chop?

Thanks,

They were not bright enough Fishead. They gave great general illumination, but still needed help from a re-positionable spot/floodlight at the bow. I have a new super-bright LED floodlight that I hope to try soon. I had one for testing last year that was super bright, but the LEDs did not last.

Thanks Wildlife, looked like a great idea…
