Labor Day week

Good morning!! The family and I are coming to Edisto next week for our annual labor Day week trip. I was hoping for some info from all you knowledgeable folks about a few spots to fish on the island. We usually hit the surf pretty hard around the point as well as the state park and Steamboat Landing with mixed results. In looking closely at Google maps, I saw a few places and was hoping you guys and gals could help us out some. I’m hoping to find some accessible places where I can take my 14 year old son for some trout, flounder and possibly even a Red or two. It isn’t going to be possible to go on even a half day outing with Captain Buddy because of the size of our group as much as we would like to.

  1. Live Oak boat landing-

  2. Access to Fishing Creek from Oyster Factory Rd-

  3. The bridge at Greenway plantation Pond. Or Driftwood Beach? Both looked like they were off Rabbit Road.

  4. Possible access to Edisto River at the end of Pine Landing Rd??

  5. Access at the end of Jehossee Road to water between Watts Cut and North Creek??

Thanks in advance to everyone!! I really enjoy reading the posts and all the information that everyone is willing to share!!

Don’t forget Jason’s lake at Botany Bay Plantation. It’s a catch and release only saltwater lake. It is for kids only, so you bring your kid and get to fish. It’s a very beautiful place and PLENTY of fish in there if you can’t get any anywhere else.

I agree. Jason’s lake will provide you with the most action and best chance to catch and release some quality fish. Floating a cork or bottom fishing with shrimp, mud minnows, finger mullet or cut mullet will work. Don’t leave your rig unattended. Last friend I sent there lost his grandson’s new Zebco 33. Jason’s lake is home to a variety of saltwater fish including some big red and black drum, so hang on to your reel. Good luck!

Being on the water is a blessing, catching fish is a bonus!

Thanks so much for the replies. I am definitely going to take the boy to Jason’s a couple of times while we are there. I hope to avoid the big gator I read about in earlier posts!!
