In charleston until tomorrow. Need a nice spot to quickly cast a rod. Can waterfront pier be fished? Any suggestions?
I’ve never seen anyone actually fishing from water front parks pier, but I believe fishing isn’t prohibited. The back side of the battery garners a few loyal fisherman in the summer. Brittle bank park near the river dawgs stadium has produced some trout for myself in the past. However, mt pleasant pier would be the place to go in my opinion. Reds, trout, and sheepshead are all possiblities. Good luck!
Waterfront pier can be fished. Way back in the day I have tried it without much success. Can’t hurt to try! Now would be one of the best times to try it. Water is warming up and whiting are around
Thanks millacd and charlestondan.I knew u could fish the pier but didnt know if it was only certain times of the year. I fished it last year with my fiance and caught some whiting, croaker, and toad fish. I might take charlestondans idea and try mt pleasant pier for a lil bit.
Used to catch croakers and whiting at waterfront when I was younger. Now, it’s a bunch of toadfish and ribbonfish (atlantic cutlass). Like suggested above, Mt. Pleasant Pier is a good viable spot and I’ve seen lots of Sheeps during the high tide at Pitt St Bridge. Good luck to you either way! </font id=“size1”></font id=“navy”>
If you end up fishing, let us know how you did. Thanks!

I fished there a couple of years ago jigging gulp shrimp around the columns and caught a few dink trout and 2 undersized flounder.
We’re heading out in bout an hour or so. Know of any close places to get bait and tackle?
Hadrrell’s in either West Ashley or Mount Pleasant are good go-tos for both. If you want live bait the Crosby’s on James Island offers live shrimp and mud minnows.
A bad day of fishing beats a good day of work anytime.
Thanks for the input fellas. Ended up going to crosbys on spring st. and then went out to waterfront pier just out of convenience. No luck. A few nice bites and caught one nice sized toadfish and that was it. The dolphins were out in full form. Jumping and playing which made it worth while for the fiance.
