Last week at Edisto

I fished 2 to 3 hours in the surf about every morning and a couple evenings as well. It was mostly high tide. Worst results I can remember in the last 10 years. Used fresh shrimp the majority of the time. Tried cut and live mullet, minnows and artificials. I even tried mole crabs the couple of times that I could find them.
There was mullet everywhere. You could stand knee deep at any tide and catch 25+ finger mullet every time. I couldn’t figure out where the fish were or what they wanted. It seemed like the sand bar may have been holding some fish. I would have preferred more of a low tide but I don’t like to fish when there are people in the water. I did make the trek to Jeremy’s Inlet for low tide a couple of times. The 1st time was worth it and caught a fair share of reds and flounder. The 2nd trip was rough and I was lucky to manage 1 keeper flounder. The 1st trip most of the fish were caught on 1/4 oz jig head with swimming mullet. Fished 1/2 oz lead on a Carolina rig with minnows. Nephew burned through the minnows in a hurry. The current was rough on the 2nd trip. Tried a 3/8 oz jig and 1 oz on the Carolina rig and neither was enough at low tide. I will pick a calmer day next time. Maybe an a.m. trip. Best of luck. Thanks for the tips.

I was there last week too. Had no luck from the beach except Jeremys Inlet. I went twice at high tide. No luck at the inlet but did good in the surf beside the inlet. I used shrimp, cut mullet, & squid but it was too rough for the shrimp to stay on. I caught a dozen or so blues, few whiting, few croakers, & some rays. Biggest ray was about 3ft across. I wanted to try low tide there but it was too hot for the kids during mid day.
