last week reds

I’m new to the site but I still wanted to share the pics of my 2 reds last Tuesday! I was by myself so I had to get the guy next to me (100 yards up the beach) to take the first pic. I was so stoked because my girlfriend had just bought me the shimano bait runner and penn torque for my bday the day before for my bday and these butes were the first two caught with her present! But please understand the 2nd pic was taken by a fellow fisherman who ran down to take a pic and release her unharmed. As far as I know he was not a trained photographer.

Couple of big ones! Very nice!

Happy Birthday! I must say I’m feeling a little inadequate at the moment, those are sum big reds congratulations, Im going to cry now.

Man those are bruisers ! A new rod and reel for your birthday…

I was walking by with my rods when you got that in! That was a nice fish. Congrats

I suck at fishing, but i try

Zwilli,
Those are some huge reds, congrats! I know you had a blast catching those on brand new equipment. That’s always cool. This is the time of year to get the big ones. Standby for the haters… Im sure you’ll soon learn about Charleston fishing and redfish holding technique. Lol. Nice fish and welcome.

Very nice congrats on a birthday fish on a new reel. Time to start caring a measuring tape, the first pic I’d say looks close to 40 +or-. Anything north of 40 is something special around here to me at least. Would also like to know tide, bait, beach if you don’t mind.

Man those are nice fish. I’m still trying to catch my first red ever. Congrats and again beautiful fish.

Thanks for the congrats y’all! It’s off to a great fall so I’m sure all of you are going to crush it and I look forward to seeing your monster pics soon!
@marcshrimp- I hope the situation is reversed next time bro!
@40inchreds- haha I bought a scale and a tape the next day! I was never really expecting to catch one that big by my self let alone two! I’m so lucky that there were guys around when I caught them to at least take my pic. My first cast I snapped the line bc I wasn’t used to the new reels drag so who knows what that could have been  The ride was right around high (some where aroun 1100) at the jettys on the north end. I don’t mind telling you that because it’s easy to figure out as mikeyloo did real quick. I was using bionic bait finger mullet from haddrells I know it’s silly but I swear I catch more fish with that particular frozen mullet than any other brand. On 3/0 hooks on a double drop with a Sputnik sinker. 30# braided line. I had basically waded out as far as I could and launched my line as far as possible. Which made for a good long fight. The second one was about an hour later so the tide was prob on the way out.

Wow I’ve been fishing that area all year and haven’t managed anything but sharks on my big bait lines, but I haven’t fished the higher stages of the tide. I have caught a ton of fish under 20 inches and missed a few fish that felt bigger. I don’t way them because fish can be stressed when trying to get an accurate weight, and weight can change but a fish never grows shorter so to me the measuring tape is most accurate.
