Late season Cobia (small)

pulled in this small Cobia on the Oct. 3, off of LB pier. I guess a few of those fingerlings survived huh? Pretty neat to catch a bonehead in October, even if it was small.

I was riding by Hilton Head Harbor today, and saw a guy unload what looked like a 40+ pound cobia from his boat. It could have been larger. I would love to know more. My guess is he was offshore, but it was only around 1 pm. so don’t think he would have been any further than the Ross.

Beautiful fish, neat catch.

I watched some guys catching smaller (20" or so) cobia from around large rays that came near the Bogue Inlet Pier in North Carolina a few years ago. The water was vastly more clear than our South Carolina pluff mud coffee, and you could see the shadows of very large rays coming near. I have no idea what sort of ray they were, but I saw several cobia get caught from near them via Gotcha plugs.

We had a small one come out from under a piece of trash about 30 miles towards R7 two weeks ago.

Go get em guys they just dont dissappear August 1st contrary to what some people say. I caught cobia in October and November last year inside of 25 miles.

I agree Airbus, they are still offshore, but also, I caught 2 in the Broad River last month and one last October at the Broad River Bridge.

i caught a 34in under the broad river bridge at the last august while fishing for drum
