What we see and what they see are different things and the same goes for what we can capture on camera and see. Most of my follow up post were to ruffle feathers because of the onslaught from my first comment. We get like a month of good Mahi fishing and they are probably the easiest to catch of our trolling fish. I’ve caught them on wire before, bottom rigs, artificial. I don’t post reports because I fish with 6 different people 2 of them are forum members 1 post reports the others don’t care to and say don’t report.
What do the fish see then?

Give it a rest dude! You were called out for giving bad advice based on something that you dreamed up in your head. There isn’t a professional fisherman or tournament fishermen on the east coast that is dragging lines spooled 100% full of braid. If there was some “camouflage” element to trolling white braid then every millionaire with 50+ boats would be pulling it that way during tournament time to give themselves the edge. And every commercial fisherman would be doing it to increase their paycheck.
But there isn’t, and there is a reason for that. Both tournament fishermen and commercial guys would run circles around you with raising and catching fish.
And again, with the tangle-rama factor, I would be willing to bet that you haven’t done it either. I’m chalking this up to something you dreamed up in your head, but haven’t had a chance to try it out yet. That’s okay. There was one time, I had this thought that I couldn’t get shocked from touching a stick to an electric fence. I found out the hard way… Then again, I was only like 7 or 8 years old.
Ur not a professional so give it a rest. I doubt u even fish often. Where are all your reports? I doubt u ever fished competively or commercially. Just because its not your way or the popular way. I bet u own a lot of Penn gear… Do u work at hadderals?

I just spit hot coffee out of my nose!!! LMFAO!!!
So is the spelling of Haddrell’s a stab too or has this guy been stuck under a rock for 30 years? I don’t even shop there but I know who they are and how to spell the name…and no, I don’t use Penn.
No matter how much it hurts, how dark it gets, or how far you fall…you are never out of the fight.

I am. I prefer Tiagras and TLDs to Internationals. I do not work at Haddrell’s but shop there when I’m in town. Last thing I want to do at the end of fishing all day is to write up a report to post on a fishing website a thousand miles away.
White braid sucks for trolling. It will certainly work but is not ideal by any means.
If you’re targeting mahi with the gear described in the OP, 40 lb mono is perfect. Hi biz is even better.
Mahi will eat anything if they’re fired up. All of my ballyhoo rigs are on #10 wire.
