Sorry Bob, but I had to let everybody see what you have done…
Fish is 118# caught last night. Post Quartermaster also got a 51# cubera earlier in the night, and this would have been a new record also!!!

More pictures to come, but unfortunately there will be no disclosure of locations or technique except to say it was caught off the SC coast on an igfa legal rod and AVET 50 sds reel from Phin. Crew was Lone Ranger, Bellyup, Schoolsout, School’s best gal, and myself. We owe Les/Slay Ride a big thanks for pointing us in the right direction. Thanks as well to Mt Pleasant Seafood for weighing the fish as well as all the guys at Haddrells for the tackle and help with getting it certified. It appears Lone Ranger missed the igfa world record by 3lbs 8 oz.
Had to edit to get a few things right and give credit where due.
Congrats,
That is one big dog.

Which rig did you catch the 51# on? I know Bob’s had to feel like a train on the end of the straight spectra. Congrats to both of you and crew again!

Congratulations on a great fish. Must have been a heck of a fight.

My fish was caught on the EX Pro 50 wide. 130lb jerry braid with a short 50lb topshot. Fought hard all the way to the top.
If not for the problems he is having with the KW, I would give him two bigger Avet decals for both sides of the bote.

Makes me feel better and better about the 4 Avet’s I am buying from Phin. They must be guaranteed fish catchers!
BTW, Phin, when I pickup the rods/reels am I getting some big stickers too?

Lone Ranger,
Congrats. Same to PQM on the other one. Those FL boys will be wanting to come up here to fish.
