long weekend at Beaufort

My wife and I are coming down this weekend, Friday thru Sunday, and are not really that familiar with the area. we normally hang around Edisto. Any info about restaurants and fishing would be a big help. She wants to leave the boat at home so I’ll be a landlubber unless I can change her mind.

Lots of good places to eat in town. We like to hit Dockside in Port Royal and they have a second location on Lady’s Island at the marina.
If you want a more scenic drive go out Hwy 21 towards Fripp and try the Foolish Frog or Johnson Creek Tavern at the Harbor Island Bridge.
There is a nice fishing pier on Hunting Island State park if you don’t take your boat.

Live minnows and fiddlers will likely get you the most action.

Sounds good and thanks for the help. I have a 15 ft. McDaniel. And a 20 ft. Hatteras dory I built in the back yard, which is my creek and shrimping boat. The little bride doesn’t want any boats along for some reason. After 41 years of marriage a honeymoon weekend isn’t nearly as exciting as it used to be, but I’m not complaining I’ll bring a minner trap and cast net to catch bait. Sitting on the beach catching whiting and stingrays is not a bad way to spend the day.

the most useful thing I learned in college: if you put one paper bag inside another, you can carry draft beer

+1 for dockside in port royal

Plums is a great place for dinner, It backs up to the waterfront park like most of he places on Bay Street which is nice. Low country produce has super fresh and delicious food, it’s where we bring out of town guests for lunch, it something unique.

Dockside in Port Royal is a must. Paninis for lunch. shrimp PO Boy. Unreal. And Blackstone downtown for breakfast.

Breakfast at Beaufort Bread on Lady’s Island. Lunch at Johnson Creek Tavern. Dinner at Breakwater, Plums, or Emily’s.
