Looking for Free divers

Looking to get some spearfishing done via free diving sometime this weekend. If anyone has space on their boat I would love to get out! Comfortable hunting in 40-70ft of water. I also have all my own SCUBA gear, but I prefer hunting via free diving. Will help pay for gas.

Wish I would’ve seen your post on Friday, we could’ve used another on the boat. Ended up just going out to 60 feet and then next drop was in 50 feet. I can’t quite get down to 70 feet yet, actually haven’t tried it, but am comfortable in the 40-50 foot range. I will keep a look out for you though, I want to do more freediving this fall, the only spots I have dove on with no tanks is 4KI & Freddy Day.

I would love to get out sometime! Unfortunately I work from 8:30-5pm on weekdays, but I am usually free all throughout the weekend. Just let me know next time you are thinking about going out! Diving in 40-50 ft is perfectly fine with me, I just want to get in the water. Keep in touch! Thanks

Which course did you take at PFI? I am thinking of going to do that course soon, kinda indecisive on whether I should take the beginner course or intermediate.

beginner…definitely take it…it’s eye opening!

I would consider intermediate if you’re already diving to 45’ and hanging out for awhile as you mentioned before.

I took the intermediate course and I loved it. It really opened my eyes to the safety issues involved. I came out of the course with a 103’ dive and a 5 minute and 15 second breath hold. I felt super comfortable at 100’, but unfortunately weather did not cooperate on the final day so I couldn’t try for 133’.

From reading their course descriptions, the intermediate looked like a good one to take. A little while for me is like 1:30, that’s it, my breath holding capacity sucks right now. This is exactly the reason I want to take a formal course so I can learn the proper methods from professionals.

My goal would be to extend by breath hold time to +3:00 and dive to 75’ by the end of the course, anything beyond is just a bonus.

That’s what Im saying. You recieve more/better information. The begineer one is for people who havent done any breath hold or snorkeling at all. It’s all about what your comfortable with and how much money u want to put into this. You might not be satisfied with the initial course and find yourself need to spend another large sum of money to take the next class. Ask around some more and find out which one you’re wanted to take the time and money to do.
