Hello, I am going to be in the area for about 2 weeks and I would like to do some diving for shark teeth and fossils. I know divers wont share their locations so I am asking for the help of fellow fishermen. If someone will help me I will give you a giant shark tooth or many if you put me on a good spot. If you have seen a diver in the creeks or rivers they are probably after what I’m after. Thanks
You might try the May River in Bluffton. Put in at the Alljoy boat ramp and turn right. You will see an island with a dock on your left, power lines overhead. Anchor up about 1/8 mile before you get to the power lines. Actually, anywhere in front of that island, locally known as Potato Island, is productive. At the mouth of the May River you will find the May River shark hole. It drops off to around 70 ft. in places. I’ve been told that there is a mastodon tusk down there, but I can’t verify that.

I have also seen divers working in the broad river, but the current is very swift there, so be very careful. The boat ramp under the 170 bridge is a good spot to put in and work the banks on each side of the river. I was talking to a diver doing some survey work on the pier right there this week and he found a tooth at the bottom of the pier, nothing big. He said the vis was real low, only like 3-4 feet.

There are a ton of places. Broad river is the main area that many divers are using. I will be diving week of Memorial Day and had planned to go with Sea Island Divers https://www.facebook.com/SeaIslandDivers/?ref=ts&fref=ts however they had a diver die on them recently during a dive (not implying their fault) so I think they are shut down for a bit. Don’t forget your buddy as their are gators and sharks etc. last time I surfaced there was an 8 foot gator chomping on a boat cushion near me. Visibility is awful and I have found that you need the best light possible. I personally carry a long screw driver to,stick into the mud to hold me in place depending on current.
Also, if you are in the port royal area and have kids, the public beach “the sands” has small teeth littered around the beach and the parking area. After a storm or,first thing in morning best as people hunt teeth there every day. My kids like those but they are super small.

Scroll down about 5 topics in this Forum and you will see one titled “Diver.” Look at the first post. I see a couple of divers working that hole on a regular basis.
