I was fishing on Folly across from the lighthouse, and I was lost all four of my rigs! This seems so stupid of me, but they weren’t moving, like they had caught something in the water. I was using a double drop rig with a 2 ounce pyramid weight.
Was I using to heavy of a sinker or was it the style of sinker? I know I had tied a good clinch knot but I have no Idea what the heck happened. It happened multiple times which really had me scratching my head and cussing at the water.
What in the world happened?
Go check it out at low tide. Certain parts over there, there’s a little drop off, but it’s steep. You could easily snag that and lose your rig. That’s where I grew up fishing as a kid, good fishing and great memories.

Until I figured this out I found fishing that spot very perplexing. About 10 feet from the edge of the water at low tide it drops straight down. Unless you know this and adjust your line can cut into the drop off and it does all kinds of funny things. I think this is probably your answer
18ft Polar CC 115 Yam.

I was using 30 lbs Braided line. I was walking out into the water and casting , so this makes sense. I spoke to a few people and they said the current was fast there so I figured it cut off real quick but I didn’t think it would be that fast.
Thanks!
Closer to the rock jetties there are also some giant old sandbags and ropes that can get you. You can see them at low tide.
From the concrete structure down about 75 yards there is some kinda rig stealing structure under water. You can’t see it at low tide but I know from experience it is in there.
Sand and shells will shred braid very fast. In that area mono would be a much better choice. At least you will feel the snags.
