Low Country Surf 8/5

Got together with runbabyrun, Grace and jarvis for a full day in the surf. Knowing we WOULD get rained on, preperations were made. And rain it did…not all day, but at least 2-3 really nice soakers early. Not much thunder or lightning close so never felt “unsafe”.
Not a bad fishing day, well no one got skunked. Some healthy Whiting, a couple of keeper Black Drum, Rat Reds one slot, a decent Speck some Ladyfish, Rays and a Croaker to keep things interesting. Landed one 3-1/2’-4’ Shark, wish I got a pic, not sure what species. It was PISSED and very lively, oh and it was rainy. Several other screaming runs on the “Shark” rods, spit hooks no bite offs, 'bout got the rigs dialed in.
Always a good time spent with good friends enjoying the BEST sport!

Enjoyed hitting it with you Mr. Parker and Jarvis. Not bad for summer. Jarvis thank your wife for making lunch. It was delicious and nice of her to do. David thank you for sharing your knowledge. I learn every time we hit the beach. You whooped us as usual:wink:Those storms have been pretty brutal this summer. Looking forward to getting out this fall. Fresh shrimp seemed to be bait of choice for fish. Cut whiting for sharks on the big rigs. Tricky boogers those blacktips are. Had one hooked on Friday that took to the air and spit the hook. David you forgot to mention your Jack Crevale:smiley: Take care my friends, great fishing with you.

Sounds like a great day! Thanks for the report!

When you see “Old Glory” waving in the breeze, know that it is the dying breaths of our fallen hero’s that makes it wave.

Great Fishing with you David and Pete I am learning a lot specially when you analyze the water and where we set up our spot. There’s a lot of first time for me on this trip I will enumerate them here :smiley:
First time fishing with the two of you
First time on this nice new spot
First time surf fishing while its raining ( I realized its much more fun ) as long as there is no thunder out there
First time holding a Red Drum with picture this is the advantage of fishing in group somebody will always have a camera
And the not so good first time:
My phone died on me while in the cooler soaked in water :roll_eyes: , But overall it was one of the best trip I ever had going out.
By the way I found online a nice water proof phone case which every fisherman here must have , Here’s a https://www.amazon.com/Mpow-Universal-Waterproof-iPhone7-Samsung/dp/B01I1430WQ/ref=sr_1_3?s=wireless&ie=UTF8&qid=1502237454&sr=1-3&keywords=waterproof+cell+phone+pouch

Pete wife is very happy with my take home  She said that she will make more good sandwich next time…

Look forward to seeing you in November Gail.
