Lucky Lady

Returning to Steamboat landing from a charter yesterday, I was confronted with several tourist crabbing on the dock, only this time it was a little different. The wind had blown a chair into the water along with a cell phone and car keys of a Lady by the name of Terri and she was a long way from home (Columbia, SC) They had pulled in the chair and the cell phone was still in the drink holder, but the keys were on the bottom in eight feet of 64 degree water. The high tide had just turned and the current wasn’t ripping, so I decided to help the Lady out. On about the tenth dive down I found her keys about two feet from the dock. The locksmith pulled up as I was getting out of the water, but did not charge her and neither did I. It was her birthday! Lucky Lady!

Being on the water is a blessing, catching fish is a bonus!

Very nice of you Buddy! I’ll bet she had her house keys on that ring also! I hope she gave you a big kiss! You deserved one?

Yes sir! She was one happy Lady, but no kiss just a lot of screaming for joy! She said she was headed for a mixed drink to calm her nerves!

I bet that 64 degree water shriveled some things up pretty good Captain Buddy.

The initial dive took my breath! I put my 2lb magnet back in the truck for next time! Unfortunately, I had taken it out a few weeks earlier! It would have worked but didn’t have it, so the only option was getting in the water. The smile on her face was worth it! May get a couple charters out of it!

Next time I loose something I’ll call you! Good work! Nice to help people in need.

True story. I was there to witness. I came back to the landing and saw this BIG splash when I was about 400 yds. away from the ramp and thought a tourist had fallen in the water. Nope, just Buddy swimming for car keys. He was in the water well after I left. That’s dedication!
