Made lemonade...

Was gonna try to make offshore on Saturday (at least to the 60 or nearshore) but the storms and wind nixed that. Trolled for spanish around A can (or whatever it’s called now) and saw no birds, no bait, and no spanish. Decided to “make lemonade” and ran into the sound to catch a shark or cobia. Set up and within 15 minutes had caught a nice 40" cobia. 10 minutes later–caught a short cobia and released it. Caught a nice sharpnose and bonnetthead. Had baby shark bite the small spinning outfit and as we were reeling it in, at least an 8’ hammerhead came up behind it. It took off after it saw the boat. Tide was slack so we did some site seeing for awhile then proceeded to catch a good mess of big whiting before the PM storm came up. Good day in a special place.

where you in a gradywhite in the sound around 10/11ish?

Nice day on the water, what did you catch the cobia on?

So a few cobia are still around inshore?

We were in a 27’ Polar. Saw several Grady’s in the sound. Caught the cobia on dead and live bait sabiki’d and/or caught on the bottom with shrimp. Heard that more cobia had been sighted at the nearshore reefs. I guess they’re moving out slowly. The few cobia I’ve caught in my lifetime has always been after the spawning run. I’m not much for the circus over in the Broad.

Were you bottom fishing? Carolin rig?

Fished the bottom with carolina rig and floated a bait with a king rig (nose hook with a treble stinger.) Got hits on all baits but caught the big cobia on the king rig drifting with the current.

where you at Port Royal or St. helena?
thanks
