Those snowbirds honestly don’t realize sharks live in the ocean. I have had people get angry with me for incidentally catching small sharks at SI while fishing for other fish.
I always tell folks " Don’t worry about the Sharks, a Stingray will probably stab you first." Especially after landing a 40 pounder and showing them the 10" tail spike. Keeps the kids out of the water for a while. 
The funniest are the people screaming SHARK!!! over a 2-1/2’ Sharpnose. F-U-N-N-Y!!
