Manziel

so he is suspended for 1/2 a game but the NCAA said they accepted A&M’s statement that he didn’t do anything wrong.

So, why is he suspended?

I have not heard why either. This sounds crazy to me. But the NCAA is ridiculous with how they do things.

" NCAA could not prove he actually violated an NCAA bylaw, He violated the spirit of the bylaw". According to college football live today.

He didn’t do anything wrong, but still takes a half game suspension… Fishy

Fishy is right.
Besides he would not have played the whole game anyway. It is rice…

The NCAA and A&M agreed on the one-half suspension because Manziel violated NCAA bylaw 12.5.2.1, an NCAA representative confirmed. The rule says student-athletes cannot permit their names or likenesses to be used for commercial purposes, including to advertise, recommend or promote sales of commercial products, or accept payment for the use of their names or likenesses.

I think they agreed to a half game to try and sweep it under the rug and set a precedent for punishment if any of these things come out with other players who have memorabilia out on the market. We all know they get cash to sign these things but there’s no paper trail or evidence. The NCAA has some serious egg on it’s face now because they were selling gear on their website and took it down after this story broke. This half game suspension shows that they were not going to pursue it too hard and that a little slap on the wrist won’t have much impact on the games. If Clowney or any of the other big names comes up later in the season with similar charges then the NCAA can give the half game out.

It shouldn’t shock anyone at this point. NCAA couldn’t and wouldnt’ do anything with SCAM NEWTON then and they refuse to do anything with Johhny Football now…even though they were both blantantly breaking the rules.

Did anyone see Desmond Howard’s tweet yesterday? Something to the effect of ‘another 20 year old outsmarts the NCAA’ LOL.

So how many years until the NCAA is no longer on top?
I can see the big conferences breaking out and creating their own league. Leaving the NCAA to rule the smaller conferences

That’s laughable considering the NCAA and SEC were profiting off his name (jersey sales) but autograph brokers cannot?

The NCAA is a joke and this more ammo for the big 5 conferences (or the big 4 and wanna be ACC I get it ) to move away from the NCAA.
