Every year there are questions on how to properly enter Bulls Bay South from either Garris (Moore’s) Landing, or IOP Marina by way of the ICW. Here is a path on Google Maps for your use. I hope you find it useful. As a visual reference, as you are going up the ICW, go past green marker 73 and turn right just before red marker 68. You will see the long shell bank on your right just before you turn (it can also be seen on the satellite imagery below)
btodag, its easy. Go to google maps. Click the tab “My Maps” at upper, left. Create new map. You will see some icons appear on the map. Click to set the line. It even tells you the distance. Also you can drop the pinpoints on the map and add a title like I did. Its a great tool.
Salty - in my experience (not very much, I admit…been there twice) there is not. I have followed people in there going fast. I am always real careful where the creek meets the ICW. The Sat image shows where the deeper part is. Others may comment on anything else hidden there.

On the Google map, there is another way to hit the bay. About halfway along the dotted line, turn toward the top of the map. You will be headed to where it says Anderson Creek. This is wide and deep. Turn right at Anderson creek and it will take you right into the bay. Anderson creek is also very deep. Head just a tiny bit to the left of Bull Island in the distance and you should stay in the channel. Many times there are crab pots which are almost always set where there is water at all tides. The Channel that comes out of Anderson creek is about 25 feet where it hits the bay. It tapers down to about 8’ at low tide a little before you get to Bull Island.
The dotted line on the map does take one the back way to the bay. It’s great if it get windy.
You do have to be careful going to BB this way. Just off the intercoastal there are some oyster bars, sand bars, etc. I’d suggest following someone else the first time you try this way. On a very low tide it can be less thaa 2 feet deep in at least one spot. 5-10 feet to one side or the other can get one in trouble. I know from shucking oysters with my prop.

</font id=“quote”></blockquote id=“quote”>Yep, that can be a tricky corner right at the ICW. Some years there are lots of poles to mark the path. There were only a couple when I ran through there a month ago.
Very nice of you to try and help people with this map, Optiker. iFly
man quite tellin every1 about how to enter anderson. i like watchin all the dumb people who have no clue wear they r goin in there 20000 boats hit the bars full speed back up and go at it twice as hard next time. it keeps me intertained while fishing of the dock.lol
Go slow! The water gets really shallow really quick all around the bay. We saw a practically new center console abandoned there last year. Looked like it had run aground on an oyster hummock.
I hope all these folks can read the map backwards! Lost my brother one night and he had a gps he findly found my 15 mill. candle power light shined up in air and found his way to thee creek mouth!
I have never shrimped the south end of Bulls Bay and may not get an answer on this, but here goes anyway. What is the consensus, run the channel out towards the end of Bull Island? How far do you go before setting up? Set up on one side or the other of the channel?
Goob - its been a few years since I have been there, and I am by no means an authority on BB, but if you look at my directions, I went straight towards the tip of bulls island and stopped when I saw the breakers- and maybe a little left. You want to look for the dirtiest water you can find. Filled the cooler there one-poling with the family on a beautiful calm October day. My most memorable shrimping day.
Several years ago, my friend and I were attacked while beach fishing at one of the islands there by a drunk?, doped?, lout who attempted to stab us with an aluminum fishing spike.
True story, luckily we were not harmed.
Map or no map, even very experienced boaters and fishermen get in trouble in the Cape.
There are many more tales from BB and the Cape; couple of guys lost their boat while fishing from a sandbar and almost drowned etc.
Just FYI-
