We’ll be there the same week. Staying outside of Marathon for the first time ever, but Layton isn’t too far. Hoping to get some fish and bugs in between snorkeling with the kids.

I’ll be leaving ChS May 25 thru June 8th. We rent a place in Marathon on Sister creek. Will be hauling the boat down. Been going down for the last 6 years if your need any info let me know.

Nikki,
Nice meeting you and the wife last year at Sombrero beach (guy in the seafoam pioneer, that started the thread with all the hull truth guys ) I still wish I had a few of those groups you guys were tossing back. ;). We will be in KCB this time doing the last week of June, sat-sat. Gonna do a second trip sometime in December after the kids get out of school around the Christmas vacation. Didn’t y’all do two weeks last year? With a relocation in the middle because of pool issues?

Anyone know of a good ramp on the Atlantic side? We’re staying on a little canal pretty much In the middle of the island and I’m trying to find the best spot to drop the boat in.

I don’t know of any on the Atlantic side. 33rd street is on the gulf, there is one just across from KCB on the gulf. There used to be one in KCB on the causeway you could pay to use. Not sure if it’s still there.

Just a FYI:

Florida fish and game runs an app called fish\hunt FL - it has all regs up to date on it and you can buy a license no need to get a paper one at the store.

Even has boat ramp locations

it was a good time last year but only have time for one week this year since we moved to Sarasota FL. fishing here is great also. there is a ramp at the Coral Lagoon resort but it cost to use it. it was closed last year for repairs.

Fished the Marathon humps about 2 weeks ago. Scattered weeds with some rips. Tons of life. Make sure you have some live pitch baits. Everything is smaller down there. Ended up with a bunch of smaller fish. Either way a great time, you can fish in the morning, head in for lunch, then go back out for the evening bite. We caught most fish within 300’ and cell phone range.

You didn’t catch fish at the humps and cell phone range, that’s for sure. They’re 28 miles offshore. The humps are steaming with life though. One of my favorite places I’ve fished. Heading to Key Largo to stay for a couple weeks in our condo in august. Counting down the days!

Our week was perfect, until the wind started blowing on Thursday and Friday. Then we got out of Islamorada on Saturday before the holiday crowd showed up.

We had to run around in the mornings to find live bait, normally took about an hour to get a couple dozen pilchards and other bait in live well.

Dolphin bite was slow, but managed to get a few each time out. The YellowTailing was some of the best we have seen in a little while. Caught a handful of Mutton Snapper, Mangrove Snappers, and one Black Grouper. We had steady action every day we fished. Live bait is king down south.
