Marcus Lattimore

He would be a great ambassador for USC. and a recruiting asset. I bet he ends up on the USC staff

I’m sure some USC fan or even a booster will help him get a good job and help him succeed. He will have a leg up over the common college grad

Dang you people are sensitive. “a great ambassador”, “bring him back to coach it’s the right thing to do,” “he should help with recruiting,” etc.

ML is a great young man, there is no doubt about that. ML needs to come back and complete his degree and go out and earn his own way in the world. Not so sure were I him I’d be all that enthusiastic about recruiting for Spurrier, I mean seriously what’s he going to say: “I played for him and got two busted knees and had no shot in the League but, you may be different.”

I wish him the best but I’m not going to sit here feeling sorry for him or starting a Facebook page over it.

Yeah, but do you consider a dog to be a filthy animal? I wouldn’t go so far as to call a dog filthy but they’re definitely dirty. But, a dog’s got personality. Personality goes a long way.

It is sad to watch as some people continue to fall into the abyss of hatred.
Blaming the coach for an injury is just plain stupid.

I actually didn’t think about the dual meaning there when I typed that. Was not intentional at all.

Pitviper,
Go back and read every post on the topic. Every has nothing but praises and well wishes for him.
Then the resident D-BAG says
“about recruiting for Spurrier, I mean seriously what’s he going to say: “I played for him and got two busted knees and had no shot in the League but, you may be different.””

Oh quit being a puss and get you balls back from your wife. He got his knees F’d up running like a mule for Spurrier. He was used and abused as a back plain and simple. Maybe he wanted it that way, maybe not. Simple fact is he doesn’t have an NFL career now, never really would have and y’all are acting like it’s the end of the world.

He needs to get his degree and get a job using his talents be they football related or non. He certainly doesn’t need everyone making a charity case out of his circumstances. If he’s smart and put his faith in the right places, he’ll go far.

Sometimes I wonder if this is a sports forum or a knitting circle the way some of you carry on.

Addiction is terrible thing. I feel certain you can beat this one. But the first step is admitting that you have a problem. If you were smart you would put you faith in the right place and realize that hating anything and everything about the gamecocks is not healthy.

Who’s hating? It is what it is, y’all want to sit around and have a memorial service over it like the kid died or something. Time to move on, he’s done with football and has been since the last injury. GTF over it and quit crying about it.

You people are making a bigger deal out of this than anyone did about the death of Gaines Adams.

Salty,
Take a few deep breaths. Slow down you heart rate. Go back and read the post. The ONLY person making a bigger deal out of this is you. Some of us were posting about what expect his future to be. You on the other hand had to put this in there
“about recruiting for Spurrier, I mean seriously what’s he going to say: “I played for him and got two busted knees and had no shot in the League but, you may be different.””

and

How exactly am I making a bigger deal out of this now? Of all the posts on this young man’s future I have been consistent in my view and projection, terrible as it may be, that he’d never take a significant snap as a pro ball player. The injuries that he had playing in college were life changers for him. I applaud him for his effort to overcome them but very few people have those type injuries and are not affected in some detrimental way.

You want him to be a recruiting poster for Sakkerliner, maybe he will be, maybe not. That’s for him to decide. I’m just playing the devils advocate when I said that. I’m sure that it would come up, maybe worded differently but the gist would be the same. And he was used like a mule by Spurrier but you left out a big part of the qualification that I used, “maybe he wanted it that way, maybe not”.

He’s a fine young man, the Good Lord has other plans for him in life besides football. He’ll do fine, quit crying about it, wish him the best in his future endeavors and move on. What you see as hate is nothing more than the stark reality of facts. Nobody is promised a (**() thing in life but winners adapt and move on, Lattimore will be one of those people without a doubt.

That’s actually an interesting theory. I definitely wouldn’t blame him.

Well, he sure as hell didn’t figure out doing that on his own, that young man’s dumb as a stump.

Richt had him carrying the ball 30+ times per game. What would you do? He signed autographs and got paid. It isn't like he stole crab legs and hurt his image.

Before too many tears are shed, consider this. Lattimore got a $300k signing bonus. He made $405k last year and $420k this year. No, he may not play, but he’s not in a wheelchair, nor has he suffered the terrible fate of Gaines Adams, as mentioned earlier. He seems like the kind who has people worrying about him whils he’s worried about someone else. He comes from a supportive family, not a draining one, as far as I know. If he is smart, and I believe he is, his options are many and he will live a very comfortable lifestyle. Not to mention he is 24 years old. I think I would trade places with him.
