Well here’s a fishing report for ya. We ran out of Little River Friday the 16th for some fun fishing and to check things out before the Hook a Hoo tournament. (One of my favorite tournaments of the year, thanks to Jeff and Ace for all the hard work, all for a good cause)
Found pretty 71 degree water at the 100/400 which cooled quickly to 67 degrees along a weedline running to the blackjack. Nice weedline along the break but it was in 68 degree water and no bites along it. We doodled around and wasted an hour on it then concentrated on the 71 degree water. We got 2 wahoo bites, boating one 47lber and breaking another one off at the boat, looked like his twin. Also got a FAT blackfin tuna, a couple slimy mackerels and the surprise of the day was a 60 inch mako shark: my favorite eating fish in the sea. Hope that mako is a sign that them tunas gonna be here. We forgot the shotgun which made it interesting.
Wahoo bites and tuna bite on horse ballyhoo/Ilander, mako bite on planer rig. Fun day, will fish the tournament Friday. Wish I had gone Tuesday, it was on.
