Masters Meltdown

Did anyone else feel like they were watching Tin Cup?

I stepped away from the TV for a couple minutes to grill some shrimp and came back in and couldn’t believe what happened. Classy kid, he could have been an ass like Cam Newton, but he was taught better. I never used to watch or care for golf, but things change…

I play golf and I’ve had meltdowns like that! Not with millions of people watching though. One ball in the water is bad enough, two will cause a lot of cussing and maybe some pounding the ground with the club! He showed a lot of class.

After finishing bogey, bogey on Saturday he said he wanted to break something. Can only imagine how he felt after that 3 hole stretch giving up 6 shots. Was pulling for him and started to feel like he was running away with the tournament after birdying 4 in a row to finish the front.

Down here is where a signature goes but they can confuse and anger some people so I don’t have one.

I felt a connection to him after he laid the sod over that ball, I bet we all did

I think he almost fainted at the jacket presentation.

He’s a good kid, but too slow. I believe that affected Mclroy. The collapse was was painful to watch though. Yall remember this?

Unbelievable. He’s only 22 though, may more tournament wins in his future.

Very tough to watch that. After that I was really hoping for a Spieth rally, or DJ to light it up on the last 3 holes. Very entertaining Masters, but tough to watch for me. After Fowler and Mick didn’t make the cut, watching Day struggle, and DJ not putt worth a crap, it was one of the worst for me personally. Glad I didn’t waste the whole day and took the kids out to Frankie’s Fun Park and watched pieces on my phone.

Looking forward to being their in person next year, and then watching the PGA Championship at Quail Hollow for the first time.

Agree Newton should take some notes. Poor Cam only had to hear a Bronco player talking about their win, how about if Cam had to present the Lombardi trophy to Manning on stage.

People can talk about golf all they want. Say its for old dudes, it’s too slow, it’s not an athletic sport. But it is and always will be the classiest game there is.

Ouch.

I bet walking away with $880,000 made the hurt go away a lil bit

I don’t get the Steve Harvey reference. Did someone tell Spieth he won? I bet you he never once during the weekend thought he had this in the bag. If that is what it is supposed to imply.

The back 9 is where the magic happens. Any pro at Augusta that goes there thinking its over before then is a fool.

This is probably more fitting for what happened. You have to follow sports to get the joke.

I had a perfect view of if all from the grandstands behind 11 green/12 tee and it was painful. i know Speith and Greller are great about analyzing every aspect of each shot and had to have had a reason to drop where they did but no one else dropped with in 50yds of that spot all day.

He may have dropped there, because it was the perfect distance for the club he wanted use! Only trouble was, he hit it fat as hell! Did you see the divit he took? About a foot and a half roots and all! Just a miss hit! Every player has that go-to club, that he knows exactly how far it will go:question:

I am still waiting on someone to get nailed off of the tee shot. Some of the fans were piled on top of the sides of the tee box. One bad drive and someone is getting sued.

Read the fine print on the ticket. I’ll bet there’s a liability waiver. I know there used to be on the tickets to the GGO

Don’t know if you’re familiar with #12 or have seen it in person but yardage was not why he went way over to the right to drop and I could clearly see he chunked the **** out it. You can have any yardage you would like from the the tee to the hazard and a much safer angle which is why I would assume virtually every player drops on that line. As I said above I am sure Speith/Greller had a reason to take a more difficult angle in but do not know what it was. Maybe a flatter lie but wouldn’t think it would warrant the angle in

Commentators said something about avoiding a ridge on the green ?

Spieth said afterwards that he wanted an 80 yd shot on a flat lie so he could stick it with a club he knew he could get enough spin on at 80. He said he didn’t feel confident that it would get enough spin at 65 on a down-slope lie in the drop zone.
