In town staying the week of 5/14-5/21…we’re staying at a house with a dock on Scott Creek. We will have the 23’ Sportsman, and a Bentz-Craft (or two) of course.
None of us have ever done any fishing around that way other than surf fishing, so was curious where/what we should target that time of year inshore/nearshore.
I don’t fish that side of the island, but there are A LOT of good spots on the North Edisto River side. Can’t go wrong with hitting some of the nearshore reefs that time of the year.

Yeah, grew up in Rockville…so the North Edisto is home waters. None of us are familiar with anything South Edisto side.
You actually have some good red drops right in Scott’s creek. Just up from the mounds is a sharp bend. You’ll usually see a boat or two fishing that area. If you run out to the South Edisto do not make a hard right! Specially at low. You can pretty much count on a boat or three a weekend stuck on the mud. Crazy area to run at low tide around otter Island. If you hit the south edisto and run right (up river) take ■■■■■■■■ cut run back towards Bennits point not far from the landing is a point with rocks on it and a house, good fishing around there. Go to the left and back towards the Coosaw river head up stream and go to Morgan’s Island and see if the monkeys are out also good trout fishing around the dock.
Lot’s of hot spots in that area, If you do some research Fish creek (between pine and otter island) is a good spot, just a little hairy with mud/sand flats getting to it.

I live on Scott Creek and see guides and rec anglers constantly going up pass the indian mound toward to causeway to fish so there must be something up there. Lots of action on the Edisto 60 that time of year but cobia are catch and release this year. There are usually lots of spades but they are breeding and not eating much but you can still catch a few.
In Scott its the trees along the deep bends of the creek for reds. Best spots above the mounds and on up past St park cabin dock. Minnow on a C rig or a chunk. Several good docks at high tide. Artificials work too when they are biting. I too favor North E end and Steamboat area or go to ICW and Otter Is area.
