May I state I was...

SKUNKED today! Not one pull down in 5 hours. I gotta move farther south or something! Maybe I need to hire a guide…

Sorry to hear that Wildlife. The huge sub tides have something to do with the fish. They were scarce for me yesterday also. Yesterday was the first time ever for me schools of Redfish were hanging out 50 yards off the bank in 3 to 4 feet of water. The only way I spotted a school was a couple of Dolphins were working on them. Normally on low water the fish are near oyster beds close to the bank. We did not see many fish on the high water near oyster beds and that is unusual for this time of year.

Yeah…even tried and true winter spots were not working for bass…and deep did not produce a single trout bite. Water was muddy from 9+ tides, but some areas were clear…just not a single school or even a mud plume anywhere.

I ran some oysters bed to bed near low water without spotting a single spottail. Not even a single fish up in Warsaw Flats. Water temp started out at 49 but hit 52.5 by the time I took out at 2…good temp for schooling bass on top of dark mud…but nada.

I can be bought  Fish seem to be eating in the deeper holes now, not on the flats. Hard fishing with flyrods in 15’ of water though.

There’s a young fellow/new member, over on inshore discussion that’s trying to break into guiding! Bet you could get him cheap:wink:

Ya get what ya pay for. 3 years of experience should bring top dollar around here

Ah, come on Cracker, he says salt water fishing is easy for him[:0]

I’ve been doing it about 55 years and I still sometimes get skunked  That’s what keeps me going back, that and the one that got away :face_with_head_bandage:

The Redfish will still be on the flats we just have to get over the big sub tides. That extra going out moves the fish, they will be back to normal in a few days. That winter we had the big chill I caught them on the flats all winter.

jim and I fished several times a week for several years. when he gets skunked its a moderately cool day in hell. of course he gets skunked more cause Im not there to bait his hook and point out where to toss the bait.

Stop it Jighead…I’m tearing up…sniffle, sniffle. That may be the kindest thing you’ve said in years. I may give you one of my Snoopy rods after all…
