I was hoping someone out there would be willing to share a little knowledge about fishing the May for trout & redfish.
My parents live down there now so I get to fish the May River about 1-2 times per year. I’d love to know some productive areas if anyone is willing to shed a little light on that fishery.
If you know where Palmetto Bluff is, fish live shrimp near the grass line at mid incoming tide. Either side of the big dock there usually yields some trout and reds, a flounder might show up as well. I know a lot of very specific spots to fish, but they will remain in my memory banks. The May has shown a big decline in the past 20 yrs. Water quality is probably the biggest issue. You might do better if you fish around the mouth go the river. Less boat traffic and more esthetic if nothing else.
