Grand Slam…What!!! Do you mean at Denny’s! Man do I love pancakes!

why not just release the fish if it is close so there wont be any question.

Gator grip or the ol trusty Stanley. I do always check the measuring boards prior to use. I have seen companies mis-mark them. Try convincing Mr. Green Jeans that it’s the company’s fault.

I can’t say I disagree with this. ^^^

A “line burner” isn’t worth a ticket and a fine.

God bless the “ignore” function.

Reading this got me to wondering if my DNR sticker ruler was accurate or not so I taped a Stanley tape measure to it for comparison. So for all of you who say it is “crap” or it is wrong, you be the judge.

Pretty darn close if you ask me. Close enough for government work, anyway.

Might want to to read what it say in your first picture under saltwater "informational purposes only ". Mr. green shorts won’t be using one to measure your fish.

That sticker will change in the heat and sun.

I would definitely agree...heck, throw 'em all back! On the way home stop by Captain D's, get you a 3pc and slaw with a side of okra. Better eatin' than any ol' nasty RED DRUM. Or better still, start targeting Whiting? Can't get busted for them...unless you have more than 50 per and much better tasting fried up with some House Autry .

If they are not accurate, DNR needs to stop making them available.

They are “accurate enough” until the sun shrinks them. That’s the only issue here.

Plainly says on the sticker it’s not for official use. They give it out as a reference and it has the most popular fish regulations on it. I agree about releasing fish but y’all can’t tell me you’ve never kept a fish you had to measure. If the sticker shrinks a half inch. Then my fish shrinks another half inch after being in the cooler all of the sudden a fish that was an inch over minimum size is too short.

Or you could simply not pick one up. It’s not like the DNR is forcing anglers to use them.

God bless the “ignore” function.

I measure every fish that I first think is going to be “close” but it doesn’t hit the cooler unless it’s comfortably past the minimum length, at least 1/2" to 3/4" over. Line burners never get invited to dinner. I’ve also never seen a fish shrink a 1/2". I’ve seen 1/8" and I’ve seen 1/4" but never 1/2". Not saying it can’t happen. I’m just saying I’ve never seen one shrink that much.

This guy definitely put some thought into the topic…

I got this from McMaster-Carr:

It is clear and nice and clean looking. I placed it at the edge of the bow casting deck.

I must say if you look at his sticker on the boat it is from 2013. So that is 4 years of no shrinkage. shrugs shoulders don’t know

Red’s nasty? Maybe those over 30" are not as good as those under. But nasty? Not to me. Catch a fish just to throw it back is only if it is illegal to keep. I fish for food, not to torment an animal for “sport” or bragging rights. Been there done that, I’ve grown up and actually believe in conservation. Conservation is not fighting a fish for a picture just to release it hoping it survives. Even though so many fool themselves into believing so. Some even go so far as to fool customers into believing they are conservationists.

“live and let live” … “those that deserve it.”
