major motion won releasing two azuls
Major Motion won and Bentley’s Best finished second. Well done guys.
62 pound dolphin - don’t remember who caught that one, 56 pound wahoo on the Over Run, 16 pound little tunny on the Daymaker (Charleston) won the tuna category - besting the Due Course’s 3.8 pound little tunny.
Fishing was sloooowwww.
I would like to have seen video of the 9 year old girl catching a 62 lb dolphin…
This is not a chawade…
We need total concentwation…
It was only a 2.8 pound tuna.
I believe Overspray out of Georgetown had the wahoo.

Do you think the rules might have been bent a little.
i believe that you can hand the rod off to junior anglers under 13
Ya you can hand the rod off if the kid is under 13 it jr.angler, but if they are older then that but under 15 its youth angler.
Howmush, what makes you think the rules were bent a little?
uh, because a 9 year old reeled in a 62 lb. bull head dolphin. yeah right. maybe by pushing the button on an electric reel.

Were you on the boat? I have been on a boat with a couple of kids under 10 who could reel in a bigger fish than this. In fact, they would embarrass many of the adults I have fished with.

surprised that folks would like to call out someone w/o any evidence. just b/c some folks don’t know how to fight a medium sized fish w/o passing the rod around the boat, doesn’t mean that it isn’t doable for a 9 yo.
i would assume that the little lady fought the fish out of the chair using a bucket harness. very doable. old girlfriend caught a 400lb blue in the same fashion, no problem - she weighed in at about 95 pounds.

Yeah, and she was only 7.
considering it is a marlin tournament and heavy tackle is quiet typical why is it assumed that with the aid of an older individual giving assistance to the chair, which is perfectly legal, i do not seem the reason to slander this young girls catch. she should be be givin credit instead of being called out. if it is legal as it is to pass the rod then why would anyone try to take away from her catch?

I just said I’d like to have seen it happen… I never said she did not do it… most fights with big dolphin are usually pretty challenging with grown ups on 50W’s… an 80W is a lot of reel for a 9 year old
I will say that if a bunch of $$$ was on the line I would not have put a 9 year old girl in the chair…but then again, a lot of the miscreants I fish with I’d say the same thing about… someone has to clean the boat though…

We are all entitled to our opinions, but me or one of my crew catching a 62 pound dolphin would be awesome, but my little girl catching a dolphin that big when she is nine would be a trophy and a memory that the crew (her grandfather, and uncles) would cherish forever. There are bigger things in life than winning some money in a tourney.
Good for her and hats off to the crew for giving her a shot. I hope to be man enough to do the same for my little one when she is old enough.

The trouble with ignorance is that it picks up confidence as it goes along.

That is why I said I would have liked to have seen it…
My second post gave other opinions after the topics were raised…
Though I am sure all parents share the same sentiments…it is easy to say you would want your young kid in the seat for a money fish… as long as you paid all of the entry fees or if the crew was all family…I am sure everyone on the boat would not mind… it would not be fair to do to the rest of the crew otherwise unless it was discussed and agreed to previously… again, we are just talking philosophically… I am confident that the folks on the boat that got the 62 lb fish were all on board with everything and am not/have not stated they broke rules or made a poor decision… that is a great fish,
