Several folks commented that it would be wrong to have a child on the potential winning fish if calcutta money were on the line especially if others on the boat had split costs of the tourney. My comment was meant to indicate that was probably not their primary consideration. Who knows if they split costs with anyone? I do not. Everyone has their opinion about should or should not have been done in a tournament situation but that is the beauty of entering and fishing your own boat in a tournament. You get to do it the way you want to.
OK, I’m here. Anybody know how to post photos please e-mail me your address at dpearceii@aol.com and we’ll get them on here for all to see.
Wonderful and Howmuch, let me know who you are and I’ll be glad to talk to you about Susie. I’ll bring her over and give you a fisthand look. Not an ordinary kid.
I paid entry and all calcutta’s. Will share with my crew when the check arrives. Regardless, I thought it was a 25 pounder on the strike, and would have made Bolbie reel it in if I had known how big.
Bottom line is this year, rule number 1 says you can pass the rod to a 13 and under. We did just that. Photos will show bucket harness, etc Last year, you could not pass the rod. We hooked a dolphin and cleared lines, and stopped. She picked it up, went to the chair, and caught a 20 pounder. 8 years old that time.
We play by the rules. I suppose the reason you guys think we cheated is because you’ve seen it before on your boats (ie. you might have broken a rule or two, here or there - harmless, right?). Not on my boat. Did anybody see us measuring our double lines, wind-ons and leaders Thursday to be sure we were in compliance with IGFA (we fished Fri-Sat)? I know the IGFA rules and follow them. I study and know the tournament rules before I go fishing, and follow them too. To the letter.
Anybody say we cheated again is going to get a phone call (if they have the b-lls to id themself). Or call me. I’m in the book. Would love to set you straight.
Dixon Pearce
ps. Somebody tell me how to post the pictures or give me your e-mail.

Good to see the whole family enjoying time on the boat and your daughters great catch.
Time for you to get your state record back.

glad to see the record set straight -
and… howmuch is just upset b/c he passed the rod around the boat on the tuna they caught
Congratulations Dixon.
I wouldn’t worry about the likes of Wonderful, they hide behind screennames and attempt to diminish the accomplishments of others.
It’s nice to see the kids on the water and the docks and know they are learning from family and friends with the integrity level of yours.
Good luck at Bohicket,
Michael Ross
Please turn the handle the reels are not electric!!!
Thanks Mark, and everybody.
I’ll try to e-mail the photos to admin for posting. Would love to share them.

Wow, Daddy’s dream…I particularly like the last one before the wiring shot with that old 80 bent…who said a 9 year old can’t hold an 80? Foos.
How does it taste?
Kinda quiet out there.
Thanks Scoutin’

That looks like a great time. I would be very proud.
I went back and read this thread and only two people stated they did not beleive the rules were followed. Also, only one person said a 9 year old could not handle an 80… so, theoretically you should have said fool, not fools.
This is not a chawade…
We need total concentwation…
Pics 1-4 have a line over her ankles? Is this a safety precaution or something that happens to be in the way?

Hey wonderful, you must be new to the fishing in Charleston because first, the crew on the Sea Baby have been fishing offshore in Charleston for a very long time and I quote a wise fisherman “they can pour more water out of their boot than the amount of water you have been across in your boat” . And I am pretty sure Dixon plays by the rules because you don’t get to have a state record for many years by cheating.so next time you need to talk about something no have no clue about, don’t.
First off, Dixon, congrats on such a great fish and tell susie congratulations for me again. Glad I was able to get out there with y’all that day.
Secondly, correct me if I’m wrong, but I believe the line that is wrapped around her ankles is one of the lines that was attached from the chair to the 4 80s that we had out; you know, just in case :p.
Also, I doubt he cheated when he caught that 752 lb marlin. Wasn’t a big deal or anything, just the state record for about 12 years.
I’m sure he still practices the same rules and regulations from back then plus a few more.
