I heard there have been some netted in the harbor.
I saw a few schools last Saturday. We were on the way back in, though, so I didn’t go for them.
I found menhaden scattered from Wappoo cut down to the James Island Yatch club on saturday.

Pulled a net full at Leeds Ave boat landing last Sat.
Thanks.
They are around the fort and also back behind morris island, they are smaller in size though. Got some real nice ones outside of the sandbar around dynamite hole earlier in the week, good luck. Birds are sorta active on them but not reliable.

Thanks Fritz!
Lots of large menhaden yesterday between the Maybank bridge and the creek to the James Island County park on the Stono.
I brought home a few hundred 4-6" menhaden yesterday. Unfortunately it was the highlight of the day, I couldn’t put a trout or red in the boat for anything.
They were around the mouth of King Flats Creek near Bowens Island, and out in front of Bowen’s pier, basically covering the whole river for a good quarter mile.
Moral judgment under girds the entire structure of laws and is necessary for the rational structure of any significant statute. The idea that our laws can stand independent of moral foundation is senseless.----- Albert Mohler.
They were scattered all over the Ashley from the train trestle to the harbor but too sparse to target. We found them piled up in James Island creek before the bridge and filled the livewell in one cast.

They are thick in yellowhouse creek
Saw a giant school right off of IOP beach on Saturday
Theyre here for sure. Lots of school have been popping through the Mt. Pleasant Channel. I netted more than I could keep with one cast today.

THICK behind Morris Island two weeks ago.
I was soaking a couple FM from my kayak when a few menhaden started ripping around me. I keep a cheap 4ft net from walmart on the yak when searching for new bait holes and figured it wasn’t big or heavy enough to catch them in deeper water. I threw once just for the heck of it and filled the net up.
Unfortunately, that’s all I caught all day.
Threw my 6 foot net on some in the Folly River- got so many I could barely lift the net out of the water.
A crap ton in folly river and bowens island on Sunday

Mullet and Menhaden on the flats at low tide across from Dolphin Cove
Menhaden schooling just upriver from 17 bridge
Newbie question - what’s best to use the menhaden for? Whole/Live, whole/dead, cut? What fish are you targeting with them, Reds, trout, shark, mackerel? Let them swim around, or sink them to the bottom, or troll?
I’ve always just used artificials, MMs, and shrimp - caught a net full off of JIYC this past weekend and just threw them on a Carolina Rig by old Mt P…had a lot of them bit in half w/ no hook ups but one. The one hook up was ridiculous - reel screaming for 100 yds or so, then popped the braid (I kept tightening the drag too much…oops).
Thanks y’all!
