I like getting into the water with 'em. Last week was pretty productive. Catching a couple of bull reds while waist deep in water is quite a thrill. All fish were caught on Bass Assassin 4" plastic. Most productive color was Chicken on a Chain. Most fish were caught in thigh deep water. Just for the record, those trout represent two different days of fishing.
Mark, I’m certainly no expert, but I start by going to where I know fish hang out. Then, I look for bait fish. It’s been my experience that when I find bait, gamefish aren’t far away. I like to fish moving water. A slack tide has not been very productive for me. In fishing shallow water, I firmly believe that stealth is important. That’s why I like to get out of the boat whenever possible. Last week, we caught 225 trout and countless reds…all while wading.

Well, I guess we know why the trout action has been slow. Nice report hwilcox. And I agree with you on wading, best way to get a feel for the water and the fish.
