I will be waiting patiently for more updates. I would love to do something like this.

I would love to have TIME to do something like this.
Keep putting up progress reports, I enjoy following projects like this.
Got some serious modifications planned for this rig, but I’ve got to figure out how to get it all within budget. Sacrifice goodies I want for paying someone else to do work that I don’t have time to do. Tough trade off, but I’m learning I can’t do as much as I used to be able to and not have other parts of my life suffer greatly.
Moral of the story is I’m not too proud to ask for help.
Taking the boat to … … … his weekend so … can knock out a lot of this stuff and I can work on it as well while he’s got it in his shop.
Short term plan:
1)get fuel tanks out
2)cut out below deck livewell in cockpit
3)cut out transom skin
4)redesign stern of boat a little to free up room for getting in and out of the boat when diving/sandbar-ing
5)put in new fuel tank
6)combine new deck base and interior for new console with existing deck
7)remove back 2-3ft of inner stringers
8)reform bulkier stringers between remaining stringers and transom
9)form new transom and aft section of boat inner and outer skins and glass in
10)pour nida-core transom material to fill new stringer areas and transom to make solid composite structural core
11)make new bilge access hatch in deck where cockpit below deck live well and hatch are now
12)repair gelcoat throughout boat
13)repair exterior gelcoat
14)prep for paint

For the record I have dibs on Rhodes and his crew first this weekend. Been really impressed by him so far. Problem with him is once the secret of what he is capable of with fiberglass repair and buffing gets out he is going to get VERY busy.
The All Rise is making good head way under his command right now though.

Here’s what I did Friday afternoon by myself for about an hour and then for about 12 hours on Saturday with my cousin’s help.
I wanted to get the Evinrude off before taking the boat to … shop.
Without the lower unit, no problem. Kids, don’t try this (any of this) at home.
Got the boat in the shop Friday night and went to work early Saturday morning. Took off more hardware and found rotten wood coring in the gunnels. Should have enough access to replace all that with composite.
Lots of junk in this boat. Hate stuff like this.
Hinged hatches off. Plan to figure out how to hinge the large forepeak hatch you still see here below/between the forward seating.
Now for the fun part.
Tank lid popped right off. No seal whatsoever left.
Decided the best way to deal with the foam was to treat it like cornbread, which is what it looked like… but didn’t smell like.

Holy cow Wes, I’m pretty impressed with all the work you’ve done on this thing so far. If it turns our anything like the 21, it’s gonna be one sweet ride.

More from last night.
Took the sender off the big tank and worked a jiggler siphon.
After transfering about 3 5 gallon buckets of gas over the gunnel and into the funnel in the top of my barrel I got smarter…
Did some other stuff while the fuel drained at a slower rate for about 30 minutes. 55 gallon drum full! Need another drum, but the tank was much lighter. I was determined to get it out!
Broken free from the foam finally!
Old tank cover and the removed bulkhead with some of the aluminum straps and vent lines

I would take a hard look at that tank if you’re planning on reusing. Having been on a boat with a ruptured fuel tank, i can tell you it really sux to be in that situation. Make (**() sure the tank wasnt rubbing through where the foam may have deteriorated. You may want to consider replacing since you have gone this far just to be sure. It would suck having gone through all of this and have tear everything up in a year or two to fix a tank that finally gave out. Just my .02. Lokking good thus far

Replacing it. Likely with a 101 gallon Moeller tank. Undecided on also having an additional 55 gallon tank forward that will stay empty except on extreme trips.
Need to figure out where I can fit a decent fresh water tank if I take up all the forward space between the stringers with the extra fuel tank.

Phin,
If you can find a 110 or 120 gallon tank, I would look at that. I have a Grady 222 with F250 and burn about 80 gallons a full day fishing. Our boats probably weigh about the same yours maybe a little more. That extra 10 or 20 gallons would be a good piece of mind on a sloppy day. That boat is looking good. I fish on a friends old 241 mako all the time and it is a great riding boat. Good luck with your project.
Looking into having a single custom tank made. I agree whalure… I want to be around 125 gallons.
