Yeah, but do you consider a dog to be a filthy animal? I wouldn’t go so far as to call a dog filthy but they’re definitely dirty. But, a dog’s got personality. Personality goes a long way.

Congratulations on a job well done and a beautiful boat.

That is beyond badass. You motivated me to replace my deck this winter…just have to learn how the hell to do it, ha!

I sorta have. You will understand when you see the report.

Question above about decals- I don’t want to put any decals on the paint at all. Thinking about documenting the boat so I don’t have to put SC stickers on.

I’m with you on not putting decals on it, but whats this about not having to SC decals on it? I’m sure its for special purposes, but how would you go about that?

If you have a documented vessel (through the CG) you just have to have your documentation number inside the boat. I think that it’s recommended that you have your boat name written on the side of the boat, but not required.

I hope seeing this rebuild doesn’t put ideas in my head. You sure have done an excellent job.

If you knew what this guy has been through since the last time he fished on the ocean, then you’d know how it was sweet for him to come on the first trip.

I don’t, but I’m sure it is all that I’d expect. You haven’t let us down yet with this thread.

How did the boat perform with the 300?

218WA Sailfish
The "Penn"sion Plan

The DF300AP was the hardest - and easiest - motor I have ever hooked up, but now that I’ve done this one, it wasn’t hard. I just needed to look at the TINY wiring diagram in the back of the manual with a magnifying glass right off the bat instead of after 6 hours of head scratching. Suzuki sends the harness and drops for everything with extra stuff that shouldn’t be hooked up as well as a few things that are electrical taped up, i.e. hidden, and not easy to find to plug into. There are also resistors at each end of the harness and an aux power hookup for the instruments that has to be right. There are definitely ways to hook it up wrong! Then, the laptop must be hooked up to this particular model in order to sync the controls with the motor and “unlock” the “boat control module” that’s a black box the harness plugs into at the helm basically. When I finally got the motor fired up it was after a dozen of my friends were all stumped too. It was very frustrating but it made it even more awesome when I hit the button and she fired right up!

Didn’t get much sleep in the past week. About 90% done with wiring and plumbing, but all the critical stuff and simrad stuff is done.

Put the boat in the water yesterday at 1:30PM. Broke it in near the beach and then went out to get snapper before mini season closed. The boat did absolutely awesome. It exceeded my expectations. The Suzuki 300 is extremely awesome in every way as well. LOTS of power and VERY quiet. I don’t have final fuel and speed specs I know lots of you want to know, but I will get them soon. I am running a 16x18.5 suzuki prop, and it did great. A 17 may do better when I am fully loaded and iced, but yesterday we did have 5 total guys, 150lbs of ice, 100-150lbs of fish, lots of extra tools, and lots of gatorades, waters and beer, and I was in the mid 40’s mph without being WOT. The boat jumps on plane quickly and flatly also. There was a confused sea and come current yesterday and after the first 2 hours of break in I got to see what she would really do.

new boat make

the Phako or maybe a Maphin

she looks great
and doesn’t have a problem finding phish
