Hey all,
This will be a fairly short report.
Lately I have been working 60-65 hours a week and only have one evening to fish, so I always hope to make them count especially with our season coming to an end in the next month or so.
I got out of work at 6pm and headed to our new favorite spot to meet with Dan and Spencer. Dan got there first and was catching whiting frequently, so I had a good feeling about that night. Around 8 we had to go get Spencer at the gate but right before it was time we scored a nice 40# ray.
Once Spencer was with us, we split up the ray into 5 baits with some left over for backup and got everything paddled out. The water was so calm and it was very foggy so it was as eerie as it gets going out. This was the first time getting out a nice mid section on the 14/0 and 12/0 everols so I really did have high hopes. Unfortunately the night was pretty slow. My 4/0 everol canyon did go off and produced this 7’4 tiger. The reel is still very much overpowering for a 7’ class tiger, but she did manage to pull drag at 20# once she was getting close and made a few 20-30 yard runs. Nothing impressive, but I knew it wasn’t another blacktip, lemon or sandbar. She also bit the smallest bait of the 5 sent out!
Then Dan’s casted rod produced another large ray, which we released frozen just doesn’t produce the way fresh does, even with ray and we didn’t have a cooler big enough to bring back to the freezer. She was somewhere around 70-80#.
Dan’s casted rod went off again that had a whole bluefish on it and was
