Headed out offshore yesterday with the stellar crew of the Andi Pi.
I’ll start out by saying that this was the MOST ENJOYABLE trip offshore I have ever been on! It was such a joy to actually fish with folks who know what they are doing offshore and on a boat. Everybody pulled thier weight and we got it done and done good! Was a rare treat for me to fish alongside competent boaters and anglers.
Brought home double digits of dolphin with most going 25-35 lbs. Hooked into something that had us all wondering what it was, crashed the bait like a wahoo on steroids then proceded to try to head to the bottom of the ocean in 1000 ft. Well we had other plans for it, after about a 20 min battle up comes a 125 lb Mako shark, after a expert gaff job by Lynn we hoisted the brute into the boat and into the fish box soon to be headed to the grill! Michael boated a very nice dolphin pitching a Z-MAN artificial on his spinning gear, and of course all the time while wearing his trusty Z-MAN visor! Had what appeared to be a small White crashing around the weed line we were on and swipping at a few baits.
Fished mostly some scattered weeds and a few well formed weed lines, ranged from 200ft to over 1000ft.
Hat’s off to the entire crew and Captain for the most enjoyable day offshore ever for me.

Yep, I’ll definitely agree with Russ that Saturday was the BEST offshore day I’ve ever had! We had by far the BEST crew aboard! First time I’ve been on the computer since I left work on Friday, but I’ll download pics and put 'em up here soon!
Thanks again to RussB, lynnmcd, inshore boy (Michael Johnson) and my wonderful husband, Captain Jack!
I want to hear more about the mako gaff job. I know of 2 different very respected crews that have had there BUTTS cut sticking gaffs in those things. I hear they are like no other when totally pissed off. What was the secret?
Set the trap boys, we going to pass through them again!!
Congrats jack, andi and crew! looks like ya’ll had a great day on the water !! nice pics too andi!!!. Mako is some goooood eating …not sure on the length “cattadict” but andi said it was about 125 lbs…thats a mean fishy right there! I Sure would like to know what andi-pi said to get lynn to crack a smile like that …but knowing her she probablly had him snickering all day!!! congrats again on some fine fishing!
In honor of our dear departed friend, I wanted to pull this up again… We love you and miss you, our dear departed friend. I’ll never fish a day offshore that you won’t be with me. Missing you something awful! Andi Pi and Jack
