mount pleasant pier 9/2 trip

this is my last trip to mount pleasant pier for quite some time.
had good luck there with the whiting etc the first few trips.
last 3 trips i have done nothing but feed the little fish all my shrimp. LOL

the fish that eat up my shrimp look like a small bream, but they “croak” like a croaker. but they dont look like a croaker.
anybody know what they are?
(im just curious…)

they rarely get caught on #1 circle hook.
put out a sabiki rig, and caught 6 on first cast with the little rig…lol

i think ill start fishing solely at folly from here on…lol

hey yall, thanks for the input.

that fish is what they call around the piers as “spots” right?
(im not referring to red drum “spots”)

i thought the fish i was catching was spots, but they didnt have the “spot” on it.
are the spots not on young fish?

Your problem is using shrimp. Been catching a lot of reds, trout and few flounder but using live mullet.

A pin fish is not the same as a spot…at least not where I come from.

A spot is good eating.

pin fish aka sailor’s choice. My mother in law used to eat them. I have never tasted one. Anyone here ever tried one?

Just fried them up, and you know what? Pertty dang good! I just fileted em and cut out the bloodline and the ribs, tossed em in some corn meal and fried em up on the stove. NOT BAD AT ALL.

oh and by the way?
using shrinp is NOT my problem.
im not going after reds,■■■■■■■■■■■■■■ drum etc.

when i fish from the pier i am trageting WHITING,SPOTS,CROAKER.
so shrimp is my choice of bait. unless i can find bloodworms, which are tough to find. (for me anyway)

but at mount pleasant pier,i havent seen ANYBODY catching those 3 in my last 3 trips.

thats what im getting at…

Go to Remley’s Point and fish from the fishing pier there . While taking my boat in and out I’ve seen people catch whiting there .

Just teasing Kop. Ya we have been catching reds pretty regular. Been hitting the shallow water at low tide. Haven’t seen many whiting out there this year.
