mouth of the harbor 08 JUN 14

Fished the mouth of the harbor today. Wasn’t the best time for it since the tide was coming in but thought I’d give it a try anyhow. First couple of hours were the most productive. Caught couple whiting and a mondo sized ladyfish that was about 2ft long. The baby sharpnoses showed up after that and the kiddos pulled a few of those in. My heavy stuff had something small mess with it but no dice. The rain started to come down pretty good around 1530 so we packed it up and headed home. There were birds working bait everywhere out there also. Over all a good trip and I think it has some potential for some big toothies. I just might bring out the big guns next time. I have some good baits just waiting in the freezer.

Where is the location of the mouth of the harbor you were fishing at? I saw the Fort Moultrie area yesterday where the broken rock wall is.

The other side of ft. Moultrie.

I have tried both sides of the fort a few times casting whiting, nothing happening there. i would like to find some were on Sullivans that holds some sharks. so far nota… stan says he had some runs some were around the fort but so far what he says and what i know of the area having lined up, i have no idea where he was.

I had a small run but I didn’t take my big guns out. Stan was probably yakking baits out into deeper waterwhen he got those runs. I was also fishing the incoming tide which is normally not as good as outgoing when it comes to fishing inlets. I fished station 12 the weekend of the 1st on the first couple of hours of the outgoing and my casted gear got rocked and my cable bit through. It looked like someone cut it with a pair of dikes, real clean cut. Ive heard of some monsters caught out there it’s just a matter of finding out when they come through. I’ll probably take my 12/0 out there sometime in the next few weeks to see what happens.
