Mt. P pier yesterday(7/28/12)

Fished Mt. P pier with RiverMonster yesterday. Was using shrimp and mud minnows. RM had a big run on a mud minnow but the fish didn’t take the hook completely. Fished for a while and a guy gave us clams. We used these near the end of the pier for the last 40mins and caught some big pin fish, toad fish, whiting, and puffer fish. We did have some sheepshead bites but unfortunately didn’t catch any. We weren’t prepared for sheeps so hopefully next time we go out we will bring our sheepshead gear and land some big ones!

Yea sheepshead are hard to catch, they’re pros at bait stealing and they’re hard to set the hook on regardless because of how small their mouths are. That’s my theory at least. Just looking at their teeth is a good indicator as to why their hard to catch and why they’re awesome at eating the bait without you knowing they’re there.
