Mt. Pleasant Pier 7/13/13

drove down for the day yesterday, fished from 8AM to 4PM using nothing but shrimp. (cut frozen shrimp bait) got bites ALL day long.
even though they was small “bait stealers” ended up with 9 fish to bring home, (2 whiting,3 croakers,4 spots) also caught 2 sea robins, 2 puffers (whichever variety they are) and 2 stingrays.

thing is, this was my wifes first time actually fishing, and she had a good time, and actually baited her own hook. (she says she still wont oput a WORM on a (**() hook. lol) and i still had to take her fish off for her. WTH? lol

i just hope she dont want to go ALL the time with me now…lol (we have been married 25 years BTW…lol)

as you can tell, she did want her pic taken, or posted to my facebook page…lol

didnt catch as many fish as i would have liked, but it was a good time nonetheless…
just thought id share…

I have always had more luck and seen more caught at folly. Biggest whiting i have ever caught was at folly. If I remember right, it was a good 14"

yeah Folly tends to be a more productive pier.

Nice work on the catch. That’s a pretty decent sized sea robin. I caught 10 or 15 juvenile sea robins in my cast net at Bushy Park last fall.

im not sure if the robin is really that big or if its the way the photo was taken. LOL

make note of the 3 ounce pyramid sinker.
im not sure how big sea robins get.

and is the folly pier the one you can see with your back to 17?

Don’t think you can see it from 17. Folly Pier is on Folly Beach. 101 E Arctic Ave Folly Beach

Yeah, the Folly pier is a very long way from 17, it’s directly on the beach. It’s a fun day of fishing but can get crowded. At least it has a few covered benches in case the rain shows up (which it does frequently).

yeah, the mt pleasant pier has several covered parts to keep out of the rain.
but what is the pier directly across from mt pleasant?

You’re talking about Waterfront Park. It’s in downtown Chas. Can’t remember ever seeing anyone fish from there. Very touristy.
