Mt. Pleasant Pier - First Redfish

Finally got some time to go fishing today and decided to go down to the Mt. Pleasant Waterfront pier. Never fished there before, but I was willing to give it a chance. Very little action across the pier all day, but was lucky enough to land my first Redfish ever. Just over the slot size (even though I had no intentions on keeping it). Caught on a mud minnow.

nice catch! I’ve never seen that much action there, especially never a red. What did you catch it on?

thanks skillet. Ya it was very slow. We were there for about 4 hours and I saw a total of 2 other fish caught, one trout and one small ray. I was using Mud Minnows.

Super nice catch for that location. Great job!

Congrats on the first Red. They fight great, don’t they? I went there for the first time myself last Thursday and we didn’t get anything. I also was using Mud Minnows. We fished the incoming tide along the grass line behind you there, throwing around that oyster bed there. Not a single bite. Did see a Cownose Ray swimming around in the shallows. The kids loved that.

thanks guys. Definitely hooked on trying to catch them now. Scratched one more species off of my list before I have to go back to school. I may try either Daniel Island or Pitt St. Bridge next weekend if I have the time.

4 pound flounder caught there this past weekend
