Went out last night to HOPEFULLY tag some tippers, Hit the beach around 6pm and fished till about 10pm. Using 2 Diawa BG 8000’s and fresh Spanish for bait. Hooked up pretty quick to a feisty little Blacknose Shark, Dehooked and released, Ended up hooking 2 Blacktips about an hour before sundown. Then around 9pm we got hooked up again… Big ole fat lazy Lemon Shark. Landed it in under 15 mins, hook came out easy with our dehooker tool we use. Caught this boy on a piece of Spanish casted from the beach… Pulled a good bit of drag at first but like most Lemons once you put the heat to them they give up pretty quickly. Wish we could of gotten a few more Blacktips for the research study but we cant control what takes the bait unfortunately. Hitting it again on Wednesday with DNR hopefully we put more Tippers on the sand!

Nice job Mr. Fisher:smiley: Because you are into studying sharks saw something neat the other day. I was out fishing with a few friends and we had what I believe was a good size Blacktip come all the way up to the sand where we were. The dorsal and back out of the water and the tail several feet away. The shark couldn’t have been in 2ft of water. I could of reached out with my pole and touched him while standing on the sand. He was combing the shore line for some food. How are those BG’s holding up. Certainly you have pushed them hard with all those sharks. Any problems or failures with those reels???
Thanks Run! That doesn’t surprise me honestly. Blacktips are my favorite shark to catch, They are a hell of a game fish… They jump and spin all while peeling 200 yards of line at 40mph. I never kayak out my shark baits, all my blacktips are caught in the breakers, these sharks come VERY shallow to feed, So the fact that you saw one that close is pretty normal, still very cool! You should of pitched a piece of cut bait at em! LOL! And so far so good on the ole BG. I have 2 8000 and I put them through HELL! And so far not a single problem!
