I don’t either and all of the recruiting data/rankings (aka proof) support that he s NOT on the hot seat.
In my opinion, USC is not at the level of Clemson and therefore should not be a factor when determining the “temperature” of the seat the HC is on. Now we all know that’s not the case but that’s just my opinion. If USC makes it back to relevance on the national stage (consistently living in the top 25 in national rankings), then I can see a demand for being competitive against Clemson but as of right now, and given the talent gap between the two programs, I believe USC would be better served if they focussed more on building their program as opposed to winning a state championship banner. Sadly, there are fans on both sides that would rather beat the other than win conference titles. Look at the Sports Forum here. Clemson is fixing to play in the CFP AGAIN, with an opportunity to play for another NT and yet the majority of the banter from Clemson fans is aimed at USC. Maybe it’s because my Terps don’t really have a “rival” and haven’t been nationally relevant since the early 2000’s (outright ACC champion in '01) but I don’t understand how beating a lower-tier (it’s what USC is compared to Clemson right now, sorry USC fans) non-conference in-state school could be more important than winning conference and national championships.

7, as much as I appreciate your respect for “native” SC’linians, you don’t have to born anywhere in particular to understand what a rivalry is or how a rivalry is viewed. A rivalry isn’t exclusive to anywhere in particular. Judging by some of the comments of some of the Clemson faithful, I don’t know that they would be “all in” on your thoughts of what’s more important.
For the record, you have no idea where I “grew up” (being born somewhere is not the same as growing up there) or how long I’ve lived in SC but again, I respect your affinity for being “native” as opposed to being a transplant, however misguided. MD may be where I was born but SC is my home and has been for more than half my life.

I could just as easily spin this to where I would appear to be a “closet tater.” Lord knows I’d have more positive things to talk about. In my world, the best thing either school has going for them isn’t a sports team. It’s an engineering school and a business school. You know, something none of the players on either team could get into.

Unlike some people, I’m not a fair weather fan. My team is my team, come what may.
Also, unlike some people, I’m a realist when it comes to my team and I’m objective (I’m pretty sure that one just flew over a bunch of heads too) so you can’t insult my team and expect to get a rise. My Terps aren’t relevant on the football field right now. Just is what it is. They have great lacrosse programs but I realize that’s not a relevant sport to a large percentage of the college sports fans in the country. Nice try though…no, really.

Clem, I’m not questioning the validity of these rankings. They are what they are regardless of what we think the results are “due to.” I don’t know what variables these ranking entities use to come up with their rankings but obviously it’s not just based on the amount of recruits being taken. If that was the main variable that each recruiting entity used and/or they used the same variables, each of them would have the same rankings. Personally, I don’t give a squat about preseason rankings, recruit “stars” or USC/Clemson. This thread is more in response to the "Muschamp
You are uniformed. Clem1984 is on target. Go back and look at which programs have the best star ratings and you will see the teams that year in and year out end up at the top.
