My buddy is back

Grace and I Headed out Saturday to see if we could round up a few. I knew conditions were stacked against us, but we thought we would give it a shot anyway. It was a full moon, extreme high tides, post storm with dirty water, strong NE winds, coastal flooding, and a rip current warning. We set out early seeking some calmer waters, but it was rough right from the get go, and remained that way all day. Upon arriving to the beach it was evident the storm had caused serious erosion, and had washed up allot of trees, grass, and junk up on the shore line. The NE winds were howling and waves were crashing, but who cared we were going fishing anyway. We arrived shortly after high tide and did our best to find some troughs, but reading the surf was dam near impossible. We were basically targeting spots that have worked for me before, but I didn’t really know what was beneath the water. After the tide receded it was obvious allot had changed, and we fished a flat beach all day. Not good. The final tally was 3 blues, 6 whiting, 1 black drum, 2 small reds, 1 shark, 1 palometa and one seagull. The highlight of the day was hooking a nice blacktip towards the end, that ripped off over a hundred yards of line like a freight train. The shark put on a dazzling show getting air-borne several times, before popping off my red rig. The other shark pictured, I’m not sure what it is. Stout little fellow, with a blunt nose. All in all not bad, considering. Had allot of fun, and so did my buddy, Grace:smiley:

Glad Grace is back. Cherish every minute with her. My doberman Ruby just passed on Friday night. Wish I’d had more days at the beach with her. Looks like you had a decent day despite the challenges. Sooo… That shark… How big was the second dorsal fin? Looks a bit like it could be a small lemon.

Better to be silent and thought a fool than to open your mouth and remove all doubt.

Walleye sorry to hear about Ruby. Dogs truly are like family, and in most cases better than family[:0] God rest her soul. I have one more pic that shows the other fin.

Sounds like a good day to me! Grace looks good, lost a few lbs. ? For sure looks like a lot of dune is gone  Sorry I missed out. :sunglasses:

Nice to see Gracie back, looking forward to seeing you both in a few more weeks !!!

When you see “Old Glory” waving in the breeze, know that it is the dying breaths of our fallen hero’s that makes it wave.

Yessirree, you got yourself a little lemon shark. Super cool!

Thank you Walleye and Mr. Parker. Gail look forward to meeting you and fishing with some of the soldiers, should be a fun day.

Not a bad day, especially considering the adverse conditions. Glad your pooch is doing better. I wimped out and went creek fishing off a dock Sunday afternoon. Only caught a couple of black drum. Wind was howling way up there too. Working out of town this week, but hope to hit the beach this weekend.
Catch 'em up !

Thank you so very much Mr. Morrison. I’m sure she would love to go. Right now she still is somewhat weak because of the long lay off, not being active, and injury. I’d hate for her to get out there and cause any problems or be a distraction. That day is reserved for the soldiers, they will get my undivided attention. Hopefully the fish show. Allot of the sharks and usual suspects will be thinning out with the cold water, reds should still be around. Look forward to making the best of the day, and meeting the soldiers
