The collards are gonna taste real good after this frost!

I bet them broccoli leaves would taste good too

The broccoli will likely be OK, it’ll start putting out little flouretts soon

Mmm, sweet collards

I’ve got lettuce, kale, carrots and snow peas in there too. They perked back up a little in the sun today, back below freezing again now but at least the wind is gone

Filling in a bit, could use more sun

Leafy greens filled in nicely, hoping for backyard broccoli soon

My least favorite citrus not to be denied, pulled 100lbs since it looks like we hit the wall on ripening potential tonight

Eat local, drink local!

Any of y’all growing maypops? We miss passion fruit from living in the islands and while we are going to plant 3 of the real deal passion fruit vines, I had also ordered some maypop vines to try as well.

We are putting a good number of perennials in the ground this spring since we got a late start moving into the new house last spring.

I am planting 4 blueberry bushes, 1 plum, 2 peach, 1 lime, 1 pink lemon, 1 satsuma orange and 2 grape fruits in the next couple weeks. Claire is starting a bed of strawberries, another couple containers of mint, and a whole ton of seasonal vegetables this week as well.

Wow, you are going to be busy.

What kind of plum? Make sure you get one that’s self pollinating, I’m pretty sure most are not.

Can’t wait to see the pics

We went with one Scarlett Beauty plum as they are self pollinating but could see my self impulse buying a second one at some point.

I’ve got blueberries and plant strawberries on the regular. The birds and squirrels love them both. I bought some plastic snakes and put them in the garden and move them around every few days. It helps, but eventually the squirrels get brazen.

It’s enough to make you think like Bill Murray chasing the gopher.

The collards were looking good until all the ice last week.

It wasn’t really the ice that “did them in”, but afterwards the sub zero temps and the 40-50 mph winds scorched them pretty hard

if they make it till easter I’ll be amazed

let’s listen in…

Earliest blueberry buds have opened

Rap, I hope your family farm takes off like crazy. Maybe EF has some collard compost for those beds soon

I’ve already seen Azaleas popping off some color. Gotta love Charleston

The garden has no answer for this thing! Get ready!!
